Jingzhou Development Zone is the abbreviation for JingzhouEconomic & Technological Development Zone and Jingzhou Hi-Tech IndustrialZone. It is a national industries transfer demonstration center zone, the mainbattlefield of Hubei “Waist-building Project”, and the major platform of “therevitalization of Jingzhou by industry”.

Jingzhou Development Zone was founded in May, 1992, and was approved to be anational economic and technological development zone by the state council inJune 2011. It now has a population of 180,000 and covers an area of 209 km2including Lianhe Town, Tanqiao Town, Shashi Farmland and Cenhe Farmland.

There are about 1,000 industrial enterprises in the zone, with major industries like equipment manufacturing, electronic information, new material, pharmacy,chemistry, textile, apparel, processing of agricultural products and sideproducts. Jingzhou Development Zone is the major hi-techindustrial base of Hubei province, equipped with complete infrastructure, andtransportation network of water, road, and railways. It has full facilitieslike water supply, water drainage, electricity, road, communication, heatsupply, gas supply, and flattened ground. The zone hasa national hi-tech entrepreneur service center. Theinitial industrial scale has been set up with five major industries includingmechanic electronics, chemical industry, textile and apparel, bio-pharmacy, andagricultural products processing. The major electric and mechanicalenterprises include Henglong, Jingzhou Little Swan Washing Machine, Little SwanSanjin Appliances, Shashi Steel Tube Factory, Huanqiu, Jujing, etc.Additioally, there are fine chemical engineering enterprises headed byShalongda, Lijieshi, Hanke, Sancaitang; textile and dyeing enterprises headed by Aoda, Dongyin, Yuemei; bio-pharmacy enterprises headed by Netchem andJinfeng Pharmacy; agricultural products and side products processingenterprises headed by Daming Aquatic Products and Yongkang Biology.

The Textile and Apparel Park is located in the south of the Development Zone, aplanned area of 9,216 mu (1 mu ≈ 666.7 m2), 7.1 km from the Jingzhoucity downtown, right next to Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway and the State Road318. It has set up an integrated platform of landutilization, waste water drainage, hot-spot supply, shared technology, finance,information, logistics, and talents. Headed by dyeing industry, there are alsotextile and apparel enterprises in the park. The park has five functionsincluding industry, municipal administration, public facility, residence andgreening protection. The Mechanic Industrial Park and Electronic Park islocated in the northwest of the Development Zone's new area, a planned area of539.72 hectares, with 3 km to the entry of Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway on thenorth, 5 km to Yangtze River Yanka Dock on the south, Jingmen-Yanka Railway onthe west, forming an accessible transport network with complete infrastructure.It is an industrial park focusing on industries, such as automobile parts,mechanical parts, light industry appliances and parts. The major enterprises ofthe park are Henglong, Huanqiu, Huanyu, Huayi, etc. The Chemical Industrial Parkis located in the southeast of Jingzhou Development Zone, a planned area of467.2 hectares, with 10 km to the entry of Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway on thenorth, Yangtze River Yanka Dock on the south, and Jingmen-Yanka Railway on the west, a park focusing on industries including chemical products, construction materials, and storage. The major enterprises are Fanya Petrol, Shalongda Chemistry New Region, etc.
